On Saturday, August 11th, Warmth had the pleasure of leading a yoga class at the Nevada County fair, only this class was different… this time, we had the pleasure of doing yoga with Goats!
We had no idea what to expect going into it…. but we had a BLAST!
Lots of Warmth students came out to play, including a few of our mini students (ages 1-5). The goats were teeny tiny, so tiny they could sneak out under the fence! We had a few wonderful helpers keeping an eye on the perimeter while Mariah and Justine led the group of about 45 humans and 10 goats through a gentle vinyasa class. We really had a great time, got to meet some new people and experience something new! We can’t wait to do it again.
During an interview after class, this question came up: “What do goats have to do with yoga?”
Well, Yoga means union and the practice of yoga is the practice of uniting the mind and body. There are many different ways to do this, many different routes that lead to the same destination of alignment of body, mind & spirit. In goat yoga, we were reminded of the power of the present. It’s really hard to be distracted or stuck in the mind when there are baby goats wandering around your yoga mat! Goats teach us to laugh, play and be silly, and that is exactly what we did. 🙂
We at Warmth are so grateful for the opportunity to play with Goats and share yoga at the Nevada County Fair! Thank you to Rea Callender, Wendy Willoby & the rest of the team that works so hard to make our county fair a memorable one!
